Glasgow Museums has a collection of Scottish furniture and other artefacts related to Scottish interiors. These date broadly from 1600 to 1980.

This collection comprises approximately 550 items and contains a range of furniture, furnishings and architectural pieces. Objects dating from before 1800 include examples of wooden furniture, interior panelling, fittings and wooden domestic objects. This group encompasses the furniture held at Provand’s Lordship and Pollok House, and also textile hangings and Georgian items from central Glasgow. Objects dating from 1800 to 1945 have predominantly been produced by west of Scotland designers and cabinetmakers, or made for properties in the west of Scotland. This group reflects the evolving tastes of the time, including reproduction and revival styles as well as the Scottish Arts and Crafts Movement and the Glasgow Style. The collection contains a few items from late 19th- and early 20th-century Scottish interiors, including fittings, furnishings and architectural elements such as wood panelling, stucco, ironwork and plaster ceiling samples. The mid to late 20th-century collection includes post-war utility-ware furniture, crafts commissions, wallpaper catalogues and samples, and textile samples. In addition, there are trade brochures, catalogues and other documents from Glasgow and west of Scotland furniture makers, retailers and interior decorating companies.
