Neil Johnson-Symington

Curator for Transport and Technology

Neil Symington joined Glasgow Museums in 2005 and is Curator for Transport and Technology, responsible for Motorcycles, Bicycles, Horse-drawn Vehicles and Prams and is also a part-time Education & Access Curator for the Riverside Museum Project. In these two posts he is story author for 14 Riverside Story Displays.

Neil gained his undergraduate degree from the University of Edinburgh and his postgraduate degree from Goldsmiths College, University of London. He has worked widely in the arts throughout the UK and USA curating exhibitions for the Design Museum, the National Maritime Museum, The Lighthouse Centre for Architecture, Design and the City, and North Lanarkshire Council. His research interests lie in twentieth-century literature, fine art, and, especially, cinema. In 2004 he wrote and published ‘Cinema City’, a booklet on Glasgow’s relationship with film, and was later commissioned to write on the subject for Glasgow City Marketing Bureau.
