Curator of Technology
Heather Robertson is the Curator of Transport and Technology with the remit of optical, communication and domestic technology as well as European musical instruments.
Heather joined Glasgow Museums from the Scottish Maritime Museum in 2006 as a Riverside Project Research Assistant and became Project Curator in 2008 with responsibility for managing the image acquisition and copyright clearance for the new Riverside Museum. Heather gained a BA (Hons) degree in Photography in the Arts from Swansea School of Art and a PgDip in Art History through the Open University, as well as a Certificate of distinction Picture Research.
Heather’s main specialism is optical technology with particular knowledge of philosophical and optical toys, cameras, the history of cinema and astronomy related technology. She is a member of The Magic Lantern Society, The Society for the History of Astronomy, the International Sewing Machine Collectors Society and The Picture Research Association.
