Flint knife or scraper, found at Cullybackey, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, Neolithic, around 40002500 BC

This flint knife, from Cullybackey, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, dates to the Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age period, around 3,0001,500 BC.

Made from a flint flake, this knife has been shaped to form a point and small flakes have been removed from its sides to make a sharp edge. Knives are just one of a series of tools that can be made from flint, which was a valued natural resource in prehistory.
