This dress pin, known as a ringed pin, is thought to have been found on the bed of the River Shannon near Roosky in Ireland. This type of dress pin is associated with the Vikings who settled in Ireland, but many examples have been found throughout Scandinavia, Britain and the North Atlantic, as well as on native Irish sites, such as crannogs.
