Description

This picture is full of events, objects and symbols, which illustrate the ongoing historical and cultural links between Scotland and the Punjab. The central focus is a scene inside one of Glasgow's most famous Indian restaurants, Mr Singh's India, where waiters wear kilts and serve haggis pakora. An array of costumes is depicted ranging from Scottish sports and entertainment celebrities to Sikh boys in Scottish football strips. The artists themselves are dining at the main table with the Scottish freedom fighter William Wallace and his Punjabi counterpart, Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The Scottish Stag and Punjabi Lion lie peacefully together at the foot of the table symbolizing the close affiliation between the two communities.
