Description

With designs characterised by clean, taut lines, simplified shapes and assymetrical touches Talwin Morris played an important part in forming the Glasgow Style. Here Morris uses two of his favourite motifs a stretched and flattened heart shape and the peacock. The metal surface of this frame has been treated in different ways to produce three distinct layers within the design and recessed areas are etched to give a fine matt textured background. The forms and lines of the main relief design are gently rounded and the points of highest relief, including the 'eyes' of the tail feathers, are highlighted by coloured glass 'cabochon stones'.
