- Description

Highland targe which has been made from a foundation of wood, covered with leather. It is tooled with an incised pattern of a runic design and at the centre has an applied boss of brass from which expands a four-pointed, star-shaped plate of brass. Each of the points being pierced with a heart, surrounded by diamond and circular brass plates. The interior covered with cow-hide and hair.
Made in Scotland, late 17th century.
