Glasgow Museums has a modest collection of Modern and Contemporary British sculptures that date from 1945 to 2000. The majority have lived or studied in Scotland, but the collection also contains work by artists from other areas of the UK and Ireland such as Gerald Laing and Sir Anthony Caro. Recognised Scottish practitioners – such as Eduardo Paolozzi, Ian Hamilton Finlay, Boyle Family, Jake Harvey, and George Wyllie, are represented alongside a variety of Scottish sculptors with a diversity of practices.
 Many sculptural works were bought leading up to GoMA’s opening in 1996 by artist such as Nicola Hicks, Sean Read and the Russian born but Scottish based Sharmanka The late 90’s saw Glasgow Museums collecting early works of Scottish artist such as Christine Borland and Kenny Hunter who went on to have exceptional careers in the 2000’s.

 The collection also contains sculptures UK based artists such as, Gerald Laing and Margaret Mellis.
