Caecilians (Gymnophiona)

Glasgow Museums has a single caecilian specimen from the species Hypogeophis rostratus.

The specimen was collected from the Seychelles in 1972 and is preserved in spirit. Hypogeophis rostratus is endemic to the Seychelles and is listed as of ‘least concern’ in the 2012 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

About Caecilians
Caecilians are limbless amphibians that resemble earthworms or snakes. They live underground and are found in tropical regions of South East Asia, Africa, the Seychelles and South America.
