Glasgow Museums has a collection of approximately 400 items of interior furnishings which date from the 15th century to the present. This collection includes textiles, upholstery, curtains, hangings, cushions, table linen, carpets and rugs. The earliest items are held in the Burrell Collection and range from items such as 15th century needlework valances and the Lochleven hangings to late 17th and 18th century crewelwork hangings and upholstered furniture. Later collections relate to the Glasgow Style and include stencilled hangings, furnishings and rugs designed or produced by Talwin Morris, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, George Walton and Co and EA Taylor for Wylie and Lochhead. There is also a major holding of carpets, rugs and carpet samples from James Templeton and AF Stoddard. Items from the 20th century include soft furnishings from G Robert Cole's house and furnishing fabrics from Heal's, London.
