Glasgow Museums has a collection of 85 objects from the Arabian Peninsula. These date from about 1800 to 1999. This collection comprises costume and textiles, coins, arms and armour, and jewellery. Material from Saudi Arabia includes a metal Qur’an holder, a necklace of charms, four other charms, a print, and two items of costume. Objects from Yemen include 59 pieces of silver jewellery made in Aden, two musical instruments, two items of costume and two items of arms and armour. Material from Oman includes three coins, three pieces of arms and armour, and two costumes. The Persian Gulf is also represented by four items of costume and textiles. The Arabian Peninsula is located in south-west Asia. Politically, it covers the regions of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates. Geographically, it also encompasses parts of Iraq and Syria.
