Glasgow Museums has a collection of 141 objects from the Levant. These date from about 1100 to 1999. This collection contains ceramics, metals, coins, glass, costume and textiles, and musical instruments. Syria is represented by Raqqa ceramic pieces from both the Ayyubid and Ottoman periods, two metal objects from the Mamluk period, a coin, three items of glass, a musical instrument, six items of costume and textiles, and four other miscellaneous objects. There are 29 objects from Jordan, which include items of traditional costume and textiles from the 20th century, three pieces of jewellery, a charm and two miscellaneous items. Objects from Palestine include 58 artefacts from the 19th and 20th centuries, including costume, jewellery, musical instruments, glass, coins, a ceramic piece, a metal object and a charm. The Levant is a broad term that encompasses a historical geographical region that now covers Israel, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. The term is itself is inexact, but serves to reference a region that, due to numerous cultural and national changes, is difficult to precisely define.
