Glasgow Museums has a collection of 424 objects from Australasia. These date from 1870 to 2007. This collection comprises 424 objects, much of which is Australian Aboriginal in origin. It includes items related to warfare and hunting, such as spears and boomerangs, and also tools, raw materials, musical instruments, charms, domestic items, clothing, items of adornment, ritual objects and ceremonial and contemporary art. The collection best represents the state of Western Australia, followed by Queensland and the Torres Straits Islands. Most of the items with an Australian provenance have come from small donations. Of four significant collections, the largest comes from the Torres Straits Islands and was donated by Robert Bruce in 1889.
