Comments

Glasgow Museums has a collection of 29 objects from Micronesia in the Pacific Ocean. These date from 1875 to 1951. This small but diverse collection includes interesting examples of body armour, a selection of weapons, bark cloth, costume, fish hooks, a necklace, a comb and shell money. From Kiribati there are two suits of coconut-fibre armour, a blowfish helmet and 11 weapons embedded with shark's teeth, which were extremely popular as souvenirs. The collection also includes several ceremonial tapa cloths from Palau. Oceania is a geographic region consisting of many different countries and surrounding islands in the Pacific Ocean.
