A collection of 25 models representing steam locomotive technology and development from 1830-1945. This collection contains examples from professional model builders and highly accurate amateur examples. Several come from the North British Locomotive Company and represent some of the firm’s export work, particularly two models of locomotives for South Africa. Also included are amateur built, ‘live steam’ operation models of Scottish built locomotives. Toy and mass-produced examples are found in the Toy Wagons and Carriage models, Toy railway locomotive models and Toy Railway Layouts.
