About treeshrews
Tree shrews (Scandentia) are small squirrel-like mammals that live in parts of South East Asia. The name ‘tree shrew’ is in fact inappropriate, as the animals are not particularly shrew-like (or related to shrews) and some species hardly live in trees at all. They have been classified as insectivores and primitive primates in the past, but they are now generally regarded as a completely separate order of mammals. There are over 20 known species. - Broader term
