Glasgow Museums has a collection of approximately 40 minor invertebrate phyla specimens which date from 1900-1994. This collection contains around 8 Nematomorpha or ‘horsehair worm’ specimens in spirit. There are also 2 Sipuncula or ‘peanut worm’ specimens in spirit along with 2 glass models one showing the internal anatomy; 9 Nemertea or ‘ribbon worm’ specimens in spirit; 1 Priapulida or ‘penis worm’ specimen, also in spirit; several Onychophora or ‘velvet worm’ specimens in spirit; a couple of glass Ctenophora or ‘comb jelly’ models and several Rotifer specimens in microscope slides Onychophora are tropical terrestrial animals. Sipuncula, Nemertea and Priapulida are worm-like aquatic animals and Nematomorpha are parasitic animals. Rotifera are microscopic filter feeding animals and Ctenophora are small marine jellyfish like animals.
