Merkland Street Station

Comments

Glasgow Museums has a collection of approximate 200 objects taken from the former Merkland Street subway station. Items were removed at the time of the Station's closure in 1977 as part of the modernisation of the Glasgow Subway (1977-1980). Items include station fittings, Station Master office and associated material from inside the office. Items date from the time of electrification of the system in 1935 until closure in 1977. Merkland Street was not reopened after the modernisation, replaced by Partick Station located just north of the original site.
