Horse-drawn Trams

Glasgow Museums has a single example of a horse drawn tram in the collection, dating from 1893. Horse trams service began in Glasgow in 1872 operated by the Glasgow Tramway and Omnibus Company. Horse trams continued operation until the electrification of the lines which was completed in 1902. In addition to the tram car there is a small collection of around 50 associated items such as uniform, badges and tokens.
