Glasgow Museums has a collection of 28 objects of ambulance uniform which date from the 20th century. Each ambulance organisation had its own uniform and in the collection there are examples from both the Red Cross and St.Andrew’s Ambulance Corps [for details of the history of these organisations see www.redcross.org.uk and www.standrewsambulance.org.uk] In the collection there is a uniform for a Volunteer Ambulance Driver and a National Hospital Service Reserve Nurse.
