Glasgow Museums has a collection of almost 50 objects relating to airport security which date from about 1980 to 2010. This collection includes a metal detector; a hand luggage x-ray machine; 35 objects seized by security at Glasgow International Airport and a replica of the dummy bomb made by Dr Jim Swire to test security at Heathrow Airport. Since the 1970s aircraft and airports have increasingly become targets for terrorist attacks. In an effort to counter this security in our airports has increased.
