Glasgow Museums has a collection of Modern and Contemporary International prints, drawings and watercolours made between 1945 and 2000. These include a significant number of works acquired for the Gallery of Modern Art opening in 1996 including woodcuts by Hong Song Dam, prints by Georgina Beier and two works by Art Speigelman. There is also a work by Joseph Bueys and more recently Untitled (You have searched and destroyed by Barbara Kruger was acquired through Art Fund International following her solo show at the Gallery of Modern Art in 2005. This collection also contains works by three of the most significant artists involved in American Pop art. It holds a screenprint by Ed Ruscha entitled I’m amazed, dating from 1971, and a screenprint by Andy Warhol entitled Oyster Stew Soup, dating from 1981, which depicts the iconic Campbell’s soup tin that is synonymous with American Pop art. The artist Jim Dine is represented by two etchings – one is a four-part piece entitled L A eyeworks from 1982, and the other is entitled Blue on the North continent from 1995.
