Glasgow Museums has a collection of approximately 25 objects representing the noble title Marchioness, of which 21 represent Scottish Marchionesses (Breadalbane, Bute, Douglas, Graham, Huntly, Lorne, Queensberry). There are further 3 objects for English Marchionesses and 1 for a Portuguese Marchioness. The collection generally categorised history, art and decorative art. The range of objects representing Scottish Marchionesses varies. There are portraits, commemorative goods used to celebrate their social and political positions as well as photographs of steam ships named after them. There are also examples of art work made by Marchionesses too. Most of the collection dates from the 20th century.
