Description

John Messner is the Curator for Transport and Technology with the remit of railway history, Glasgow trams, Glasgow Buses, the Glasgow Subway, and caravans.

John is a native of Michigan, in the Midwest of the United States, and attended Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana for his undergraduate degree in History. Following his studies he moved to the UK and gained an MA in Museum Studies at the University of Leicester. His previous posts have included Curator of Industry at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, Curator at the World of Glass, St. Helens, and Special Exhibitions Curator at the National Football Museum in Preston.

His research interests include industrial history, the use of symbolism in modern society, and the development and global growth of sporting activities.
