Description

Born in Glasgow, son of a builder, Park was apprenticed to a builder at 14 and worked for a time as a stonecarver at Hamilton Palace. He worked for two years in Rome under Thorwaldsen, to whom he had an introduction from the Duke of Hamilton, thereafter practising in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Manchester, executing many busts and other subjects. He died in Warrington as the result of an accident.
