Round plate with a flat shallow well and a low concave lip. Wheel-thrown glazed red earthenware decorated with black and white image transfers and a circular band of triangular geometric decoration in white pigment under the glaze. The base is unglazed, marked with ‘NA’ in white and embossed with the potter’s mark “RP” in a square shape. This plate bears a transfer of a black and white photograph of a woman and baby, Mirella and her baby son. Mirella is from Bari in southern Italy; she is married to a Scottish man; and she works as a heritage coordinator at the Gated Theatre in Ayr.
