Square monochrome turquoise glazed frieze-tile with part of a relief inscription from the Qur’an. The inscription consists of the last two letters of a word and the following word from verse 4 in chapter 48. Above the inscription is a simple relief embossed arabesque border. This type of wall tile would have formed part of a long inscription frieze with quotations from the holy book of Islam, the Qur’an. The frieze may have formed part of the exterior decoration of a dome or the upper part of a religious building.
