Large dish, porcelain slanting sides edged with brown; decorated with powder blue in which are reserves in famille verte enamels; in centre large eight foil panel containing pair of lovers in a garden; round sides eight quatrefoil panels containing flowering plants and landscapes. This dish depicts an episode taken from 'The Romance of the Western Chamber', a Chinese love story.
