Description

This tall vase is finely decorated with images of women expressing affection for a young scholar by throwing fruit to him, often found in porcelain painting, deriving from woodblock prints that flourished in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The vase most likely depicts the talented writer Pan An (247–300) being showered with fruit. He was known to people at that time as a handsome and elegant writer.
