Description

Pissarro studied in Paris under Antoine Melbye and Corot. He was also influenced by Courbet. His earlier sympathies were classic, and he became an exponent of the 'Impressionist' School. Later on he practised 'Pointillism' but subsequently abandoned that movement and joined the 'Independants'. He is best known for his landscapes.
