Glasgow Museums has a collection of some 500 items of contemporary craft that date from 1960 to the present. This collection contains five main groups, categorized by the materials from which objects are made. These are ceramics, glass, textiles, metalwork and jewellery. Other items in the collection include wooden furniture. Ceramics is the largest group, and represents around 144 different craftworkers. It holds work by Scottish-based and English potters with international reputations, including pieces by Turner Prize winner Grayson Perry. Over 50 artists who work with glass are represented, including Helen Monro Turner, Alison Geissler, Dennis Mann, Alison Kinnaird, Ed Inglehart, Peter Layton and Ann Fleming. Textiles comprises hangings and tapestries and represents around 27 artists, mainly Scottish-based, including Kathleen Whyte, Jennifer Hex, Hannah Frew Paterson, Jacqui Parry and Sarah Sumsion. Metalwork and jewellery represent a further 10 Scottish-based artists, including winning entries for the Young Designer Silversmith of the Year Award.
