This collection encompasses paintings, drawings, sculpture, stained glass and prints, and represents many of Scotland’s most significant artists. The collection holds work by most of the 25 artists associated with the Glasgow Boys group, including Joseph Crawhall, James Guthrie, John Lavery, EA Walton, George Henry and EA Hornel. In addition, it has fine examples by the Scottish Colourists Samuel John Peploe, John Duncan Fergusson, Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell and George Leslie Hunter. Many of the best Scottish etchers of the period 1880–1930 are represented, including ‘The Big Four’ – Muirhead Bone, David Young Cameron, James McBey and William Strang. The collection also holds lithographic topographical illustrations and engravings and mezzotints after other masters.
