Pippa Stephenson is Curator of European Art. Before joining Glasgow Museums in 2013, Pippa Stephenson was one of the first Art Fund Curatorial Trainees, working at the National Gallery in London and the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle, 2011–13.
Pippa was awarded her MA in History of Art from the University of Bristol in 2011, a PGCE teaching German and French at secondary school level in 2008, and was awarded her BA from the University of Exeter in 2007, studying History and European Studies (German), including 20th century German art at Westfaelische-Wilhelms Universitaet, Muenster (2005–6). She is an active member of the National Gallery London’s Specialist Subject Network (SSN), and Codart (Dutch and Flemish Art network).
Pippa’s research interests are guided by Glasgow Museum’s impressive collection of continental European art. Her current focus includes Dutch and Flemish 17th century portraiture, 16th Century Spanish Art, Salvador Dali’s late work, and Modern French artists including Edgar Degas. She delivered lectures for the University of Glasgow’s History of Art department. and helped to develop equalities training sessions for Glasgow Museums.
