Description

Laura Bauld is a Project Curator, working on the Burrell Renaissance Project – the large-scale refurbishment and redisplay of the Burrell Collection. Laura joined Glasgow Museums as a Gallery Assistant in 2014 before being appointed in 2016 as Assistant Project Curator for the Burrell Renaissance Project. In 2018, Laura was appointed as Project Curator, with responsibilities for collection research and gallery interpretation development. Her current remit covers Decorative Arts from 1603-1800 from the Burrell Collection, including silver, glass, treen, porcelain, and furniture collections.

Laura studied MA (Hons) in History of Art and English Literature at the University of Glasgow, before gaining her postgraduate MSc in Museums Studies from the University of Glasgow, specialising in the History of Collecting and Collections. She has Level One British Sign Language.

Laura’s interests include museum activism, collaborative community working and co-curation. Laura has also intensively researched LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) histories within Glasgow Museums, working in partnership with the LGBT community in Glasgow to improve access and visibility of these histories within the museum collections and venues.
