Comments

Glasgow Museums has a collection of British art dating from 1600 to 1960. It includes approximately 500 paintings and 1,250 watercolours and drawings. This collection represents many of the key figures in British art, including Turner, Constable, Hogarth, Blake, Millais, Alma-Tadema, Moore, Rossetti, Burne-Jones, Whistler, Sickert, Spencer, Wyndham Lewis, Lowry and Nicholson. It includes an excellent group of 18th and 19th century English landscapes, some fine English Victorian narrative pieces, a select group of English Pre-Raphaelite works and various history and genre paintings. It also includes strong examples from the first two decades of the 20th century, by War Artists and English artists from the Camden Town Group, the Vorticists, the Slade School and the St Ives School.
